Over the Labor Day holiday weekend, Survey Analytics Product Manager for the SurveyPocket app Greg Bender spent a day at Kings Island in Cincinnati, OH with family and friends. While enjoying the beautiful sunny weather at Kings Island on Labor Day, Greg was approached by a Cedar Fair Entertainment Company park staff representative with an iPad to take a survey using SurveyPocket. The Cedar Fair Partnership is one of the largest regional amusement park operators in the world, with eleven amusement parks, three separately-gated outdoor water parks, one indoor water park and give hotels. The parks are located in Ohio, California, North Carolina, Virginia/District of Columbia, Pennsylvania, Minnesota, Missouri, Michigan and Toronto, Ontario. Cedar Fair began deploying surveys on tablet devices loaded up with SurveyPocket during the 2012 season. At Cedar Fair Park locations, staff members walk around the park with their devices loaded with SurveyPocket. They encounter guests throughout the day and ask a series of questions, and at the end of a survey they have the guest opt in and agree to give their feedback to the park. Just one season after beginning their research the technology has brought nothing but gains to the research process at Cedar Fair. SurveyPocket has streamlined the process of monthly insight reports and made it simple to visualize the data with user friendly dashboards for each park.

“We used to have to hand-do monthly reports for all of the parks. That’s all gone away now. This year we set up dashboard accounts so a select group at each park has access so they can log on and see the reporting for their park. Everyone can access their own data; they can run their own cross-tabs. It works really well for us. The feedback from the park marketing directors has been really positive.”
